“These people cannot help it, Jack! The constant bombardment of the additives in the food and water coupled with the rampant brainwashing by the media has left them spinning in circles! Most of them are no longer able to get angry!” Charlotte said as she raced to keep up with her husband.

“You’re right, of course.” He said. “I have been brought here to stop this- I do not believe in blaming a victim when a crime is committed.” He stopped walking at the corner of the building and waited for her. “But how have you managed to keep your wits about you this whole time, Char?”

“You taught me well.”

Jack smiled and turned the corner to cross the lot toward where the car was parked. He stopped after only a few steps and nearly dropped the cat carrier out of shock.

“What the hell- I don’t understand!” He said as he looked upon the site where they had waged war against the three Sentries. The remains of the robots had disappeared completely from the scene. Even the decapitated head that he had crushed under his boot like an empty soda can was nowhere to be found.

“Gone! We were only upstairs for ten minutes and they have vanished!” He looked in all directions- Expecting to see one of the robots peeking out from behind a parked car- But finding no trace of them.

“What were you saying about their technological capabilities, again?” Charlotte said.

“Not funny.”

“Come on, let’s get out of here.”
