“It is not just in your imagination, my love.” Charlotte said.
“What do you mean?”
“Privacy is dead. Everything is monitored and recorded. Stored on supercomputers to be analyzed and categorized. Nothing is secret and, apparently, nothing is sacred.”
Bullshit.” Jack muttered under his breath. “Whatever happened to freedom?”
“After the wars spiraled out of control and the value of the dollar crashed the masses were convinced by the mainstream media to trade in their freedom for security- But, ironically, they ended up with neither.”

“On my way here this afternoon I saw a van drive by that had people in the back with black cloth bags covering their heads!” He said.
Charlotte nodded. “Happens almost everyday. People will just suddenly disappear.”
“And then what?”
She shrugged. “Some are sent to torture camps, others are just killed outright. The rest are sent to reeducation camps.”

Reeducation camps?” Jack said.
“Brainwashing. Mind control.”
“I- I cannot even fathom all of this right now! It is all just too much!” He stood up and started pacing back and forth at the foot of the bed.
“There is only one thing that I cannot figure out.” Charlotte said. “The security cameras would have scanned and identified you on the way here. They know that you have returned from the dead. So why hasn’t anyone kicked in the door yet?”

    1. Thank you very much, Arjun Bagga! I spent the afternoon working on this & I’m a bit relieved that it is finally finished and posted! Have a great day!

  1. Loved this installment. Why hasn’t anyone kicked the door in yet, indeed! Very cool.
Okay, so I know you’ve probably received every award known to blog-man, still, I just received a nod for the Liebster and wanted to pass it along. I certainly understand if your too busy to accept – it is a lot of work – I just hope it sends more to your site. You can find the link here (it’s my short lin) http://wp.me/p2GfO1-bf. Take care and congrats on both a great story and job well done!

    1. Congrats on the award & thank you very much! I usually wait until I’m in between chapters to accept awards, so it could be a week or two until I’m able to do anything like this, but I will attend to it when time allows! Keep up the great work over there & enjoy the day! 🙂

  2. This is very interesting. The mind control intrigued me. I’ll set aside some time soon to start reading this story from the beginning if I can.
