May 21st (Continued)-

“I don’t understand why we had to go out for coffee when we have coffee at home.” Charlotte said.

“It’s not about the coffee.” I said. Sometimes I just need to get out. I start climbing the walls after a few days in the studio.”

We left the ground floor lobby of the parking garage and crossed the street.

“Can we sit at one of the table outside so we can smoke?” She said as we approached the door to the coffee shop.

“Sure.” We walked inside and

the kid standing behind the counter turned around.

“What can I get you?” He said.

“I’ll take a large Americano.”

“Same here.” Charlotte said.

We waited for the drinks and then took them outside.

“Any regrets selling your artwork to those freaks?” Charlotte said.

“You know how I feel.” I said. “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.”

“Just a few days ago you were ranting and raving about that gallery and all of their hidden agendas.”

I shrugged. “That’s true, and I still feel that way…”

“Then why did you give in?”

I paused to light a cigarette.

“I’ve heard a few disturbing rumors involving that place. I’m going to infiltrate their group and expose them.” I said.

Charlotte stared across the table at me- I couldn’t read her expression because her eyes were hidden behind sunglasses.

“Did you bring the canasta deck?” I said.

She placed the cards upon the table and I shuffled them.

    1. Thank you very much! Yes, this thing has been going into overdrive over the last few days- Can’t really explain it, I have just felt more compelled to post more pages more often! Thanks for all of the support and enjoy the rest of the day! 🙂
