Crossing over to the other side of the barricade was like crossing over to another dimension.
The air felt at least ten degrees cooler and there was a slight breeze. He noticed bizarre patterns moving within the tall prairie grass, the trees and the shadows.
A strange sort of symmetry.
But Jack was not afraid. An unusual feeling of inner peace had overtaken him.
The old abandoned road went on without interruption for as far as he could see.

Jack had the distinct feeling that he was being watched- Then he heard a slight rustling from the timbered area to his right. He stopped walking and turned to look. A deer stood stock-still about fifty feet away. The doe was staring directly at him.
Many of the tree branches and plants were moving and bending right before his eyes to form complex and inexplicable geometric patterns. What in the hell- Am I hallucinating?
My peace I give you…” A deep voice whispered.

The doe seemed to nod in his general direction before turning and walking deeper into the forest.
The animal was moving at a slow pace and Jack followed it. The deer was not frightened by his presence, even seemed to be glancing back at him every so often.
A deep and melodic hum was coming from the earth beneath his feet. Tree branches had moved to block the sun. Jack fell down onto his knees and closed his eyes. The hum was putting him into a trance.

  1. I’m excited to see where this is going to go. Maybe it’s just my sci-fi side but this place seems to good to be true. I can’t wait to find out. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Jae Lei! This series will probably be going for some time, I’m having too much fun with it! Currently working on the next couple of posts… Thanks for reading, have a great week and stay tuned… 🙂
